UN, NYC, Happiness & Wellbeing; Defining The New Economic Paradigm
On April 2nd, 2012, Dominic participated in a meeting at the United Nations, New York on "Wellbeing and Happiness: Defining the New Economic Paradigm". The meeting was hosted by the Royal Government of Bhutan and lead by Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Jigme Y. Thinley. The aim was to add support and momentum to the motion for abolishing Gross Domestic Product as a measure of a national wealth. Bhutan presented their Gross National Happiness as an alternative accountancy system, one which can begin to value the things we value; namely wellbeing and happiness. Other Key-note speakers included the President of Costa Rica, H.E. Mrs. Laura Chinchilla and world leading economists Joseph Stiglitz and Jeffrey Sachs. Dominic's main contribution was to the plenum discussion and presentation of an "Efficient Use of Resources".
